WILMINGTON – DEC. 31, 2018 – The Delaware Blue Coats, the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, announced today that the team has acquired Rashad Vaughn from the Texas Legends.
Per the terms of the trade, the Blue Coats will receive Vaughn and Texas’ 2019 third-round draft pick in exchange for the returning player rights to Askia Booker and Delaware’s 2019 second-round draft pick.
A 6-foot-5 guard, Vaughn played in 21 games for the Legends this season, starting nine. He averaged 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 24.7 minutes per game. Vaughn is a Minnesota native, who was originally selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. In 133 career games for the Bucks (2015-2018), including three games in the 2017 NBA Playoffs, Vaughn averaged 3.1 points and 1.2 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game. Vaughn was traded to the Brooklyn Nets and later to the New Orleans Pelicans last February. He appeared in one game for the Nets before ultimately signing two separate 10-day contracts with the Orlando Magic. Additionally, the 22-year-old Vaughn’s G League experience includes seven games played between the Canton Charge (2015-16) and the Westchester Knicks (2016-17).
A former McDonald’s All-American, Vaughn played one collegiate season at UNLV in 2014-15. He averaged 17.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 32.3 minutes per game for the Runnin’ Rebels.
