Team acquires Michael Bryson in trade with Iowa
CAMDEN – OCT. 20, 2018 – The Delaware Blue Coats, the NBA G League Affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, selected Marcus Marshall (No. 23, First Round), Jordan Downing (No. 3, Third Round) and Kameron Rooks (No. 9, Fourth Round) in the 2018 NBA G League Draft.
Marshall (6-3, 190) averaged 20 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal in 35 games in his senior season atNevada in 2016-17. He led the Mountain West Conference in three-point field goals (115) and ranked second in three-point field goal percentage (.380). The St. Paul, Minnesota native played his first three seasons at Missouri State, where he earned MVC Freshman of the Year honors. Marshall spent the 2017-18 campaign with the Westports Malaysia Dragons of the ASEAN Basketball League, where he averaged 22 points per game.
Downing (6-5, 205) posted 17 points per game in three years at Presbyterian (2012-15), which ranks among the all-time leaders in Big South Conference history. From 2015-2017, Downing averaged 26 points per game for AS Soleuvre (Luxembourg) and 18 points per game for BC Winterthur (Switzerland). The Huntersville, North Carolina native is a veteran of three NBA G League seasons, most recently playing for the Texas Legendsduring the 2017-18 campaign, when he averaged 11 points per contest.
Rooks (7-1, 260) appeared in 83 games for California, Berkeley(2013-17) before transferring to San Diego State for his senior season, where he averaged three points and four rebounds per game and ranked in the top 10 in blocks per game in the Mountain West Conference. The San Marcos, California native shot over 55 percent from the floor over his four-year NCAA career.
The Blue Coats also acquired Michael Bryson from the Iowa Wolves in exchange for Hakim Warrick, whom Delaware selected No. 9 overall in today’s draft, as well as the returning player rights to James Webb III.
Bryson (6-4, 200) appeared in 47 NBA G League games with Iowa in 2017-18, averaging eight points and three rebounds per contest. A former standout for UC Santa Barbara, Bryson averaged 18 points and six rebounds per game during his senior season and became the all-time leader in three-point field goals made. Bryson has played in the National Basketball League (Australia) in addition to the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacifico (Mexico).
Blue Coats training camp begins this Monday, Oct. 22 at the Philadelphia 76ers Training Complex in Camden.
