WILMINGTON – DECEMBER 27 – The Delaware Blue Coats (0-1) dropped their regular season opener to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (1-0) 139-99 on Tuesday night at Chase Fieldhouse.
The Blue Coats had an early first quarter lead that was overcome by a 51-point second quarter, including a 24-0, run by the Vipers. The attack was led by Trevor Hudgins who had 23 points in the quarter—and 35 for the game – while shooting 7-9 from beyond the arc.
Darius Day added 28 points, on 10-17 shooting, and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season, including Showcase play in .
Michael Foster Jr. led the way for the Blue Coats, dropping 18 points on 7-10 shooting while also grabbing four rebounds in 23 minutes of play. 76ers assignment player Jaden Springer poured in 17 points and had five steals. Mac McClung added 13 points off the bench on 6-7 shooting in 24 minutes of action.
The Coats will return to action on Friday night at Chase Fieldhouse. The game is set to tipoff at 7:00 p.m.
