With eight of the twelve qualifying teams from the 2022 G League Playoffs eliminated from contention, only four remain in the hunt.
The Delaware Blue Coats, who have won two straight games to become one of the final four teams, will have an opportunity to advance to the G League Finals tonight as they match up against Raptors 905 in Mississauga, Ontario.
The 905 entered the playoffs as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Blue Coats are third. Most recently, Delaware upset the two-seeded Motor City Cruise one the road, 124-116, to keep their season alive.
One of the standout players for the Blue Coats through the first two rounds of the playoffs has been rookie guard Jaden Springer. After missing significant time in the regular season due to a string of injuries, Springer has done nothing but shake off that rust in the playoffs.
In both of the team’s first two playoff contests, he has been remarkably aggressive on both ends of the court. Offensively, he is leading his team in scoring with 28 points per game. On defense, his antagonizing efforts have caused trouble for his opponents; in his most recent outing against the Cruise, he recorded four steals.
Springer will be the X-factor tonight against the 905, as the team has seemed to run through him thus far into their playoff run. However, the attention he will likely garner from the opposition may require Head Coach Coby Karl to turn to some of his other players for the scoring load.
Will the Coats continue their season and advance to the G League Finals, or will the 905 send them back to Wilmington? Gametime is set for 7:00 p.m.
