The Delaware Blue Coats (21-10), or “Purple Coats” as they were named for a night in their effort to spread awareness for mental health, kicked off the weekend strong with a 144-110 victory over the visiting Wisconsin Herd (8-23).
The Coats started the game with urgency, posting 39 points on 50% shooting from the field in the first quarter. Paul Reed, who returned to Delaware in this game after spending significant time with the Philadelphia 76ers, continued his G League dominance, recording 8 points and 8 rebounds in the first frame.
The second quarter saw the Coats do much of the same offensively, as they continued to find their big men in the paint. Charles Bassey ended the half with 18 points while going 8-10 from the field. But while Reed and Bassey certainly claimed most of the opposing defense's attention in the first two quarters, guard Myles Powell led the team with 22 points when Delaware went into the locker room up 72-51.
In the third, Delaware maintained their lead by surpassing the 100-point threshold and going up 107-84. From there on out in the fourth, it was a smooth ride to a 144-110 W.
